Hi all, I just wanted to make a video about the effects of video games on people who suffer with anxiety. This is mainly focused on Doki Doki Literature Club - After playing the 1st hour blind and not seeing anything out of the normal I went online to see what I was in store for, this was a huge mistake because it really set my anxiety rocketing about playing the game. I try to explain why this is in my video. Would I have been OK if I just went in blind without looking the game up? Who knows?

I have had several requests to play this game Doki Doki Literature Club, It didn't really interest me at first as it just looked like an anime dating simulator that are a dime a dozen, but, the warning at the start of the game "Do not play this game if you suffer with anxiety or depression" has me thinking otherwise! In this first episode we meet Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri and Monika - 4 seemingly normal girls that have started a literature club and are very excited that I have joined. what could go wrong? It was released on September 22, 2017 for Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux,[1] and later on October 6 for Steam. The story follows a male high school student who joins the school's Literature Club and interacts with its four female members. The game features a mostly linear story, with some alternate scenes and endings depending on the choices the player makes. While it appears at first glance to be a lighthearted dating simulator, it is in fact a psychological horror game that involves heavy use of breaking the fourth wall.[2] The game was developed in an estimated two-year period by a team led by Dan Salvato, known previously for his modding work for Super Smash Bros. Melee. According to Salvato, the inspiration for the game came from his mixed feelings toward anime, and a fascination for surreal and unsettling experiences.[3] Upon its release, Doki Doki Literature Club! received critical praise for its metafictional and horror elements, with PC Gamer calling it "one of the most surprising games of the year."[4]
